JEWISH TUNISIA TOUR - 10th March 2013

Tunisia has the most stunning Synagogues ever seen with a long history to match. They are just getting their tourist industry back on track again hence 8 days 7 nights all in price of £695 has been offered that includes an internal flight from Djerba Island to Tunis.

DAY 1: Sunday 10th March 2013:
Arrival with British Airways flight  to Tunis Airport at 12:35 local time.Meet and great by our guide. Departure for the Great Synagogue of Tunis:The Synagogue was  built at the end of the 1940s to replace the former Great Synagogue which was demolished as part of the Jewish redevelopment area, the Hara, Transfert to hotel Tunisia Palace 4* or similar in Tunis.Chek in and overnight at hotel.                                      

DAY 2: Monday 11th March : TUNIS- BARDO-CARTHAGE- SIDI BOU SAID-TUNIS:
 Breakfast . Departure for the Museum of Bardo : It was the ancient residence of the Beys (dynasty ruling Tunisia from 1705 to 1957), the Palace of Bardo is hosting since 1888 a structured  archaeological Museum. Continue to visit the village of Sidi Bou Said: Drive back to hotel Tunisia Palace 4* or similar.

*DAY 3: Tuesday 12th March TUNIS-KAIROUAN                               
Breakfast . Departure  to Kairouan.
The large Mosque: The oldest mosque in North Africa and one of the world's oldest minarets, there are 414 columns in the Great Mosque. Almost all were take from Roman ruins
Aghlabites Pools: Left open sky tanks
Check in at hotel La Kasbah 5* and overnight.

DAY 4:Wednesday 13th March: KAIROUAN-ELJEM-MATMATA  
Breakfast .Departure to Eljem. Visit of the Roman Amphitheatre. Departure to Gabés and short stop in the Oasis.Departure to Matmata and visit of a troglodyte family.
Check in at hotel Diar El Barbar 4* and overnight.
 

DAY 5 :Thursday 14th March MATMATA – EL GHRIBA
Breakfast.Transfer to hôtel Ulysse Park inn 5* or similar and overnight – rest and leisure day or choice of tour of island and its museums

DAY 6 :Frday 15th March MATMATA – EL GHRIBA
Breakfast - Departure to El Ghriba on Djerba Island. Visit the El Ghriba Synagogue, also known as the Djerba Synagogue, is located on the Tunisian island of Djerba. It is situated in the Jewish village of Hara Seghira several kilometres southwest of Houmt Souk, the capital of Djerba. It currently houses the world's oldest Sefer Torah.Check in at hotel el Mechrek 2* and overnight.Synagogue to meet the Jewish community and having Shabbat dinner with them
 

DAY 7:Saturday 16th March EL GHRIBA-DJERBA (Free Day)
Attending Shabbat services with lunch thereafter and free afternoon
 

DAY 8:Sunday 17th March 2012 DJERBA- DJERBA APT.
Transfert to Djerba Airport.check in formalities.
