KRAKOW Jewish Festival KLEZMER Climax & AUSCHWITZ TRIP

Total combined cost is £295 pp single supplement £35 per night [not including flights] covers sharing double/twin room, B & B guided tour Friday, Sunday’s trip including pizza lunch all guides and museum fees plus Saturday nights reserved seat in restaurant with meal and any drinks.

Friday 6th July - SHORTEST TRIP AVAILABLE 2 NIGHTS 3 FULL DAYS book RYANAIR Leaving Friday 6th July at 6.15am Stanstead Flight 2432 lands Krakow 9.35am and returns 21.55pm on Sunday 8th July Flight 2437 lands Stanstead 23.15pm. You will be taken direct to airport following Auschwitz visit on Sunday all flights have to be booked by yourselves with Ryanair  

Alternatively flights are available BA and EasyJet from Gatwick but you will need to arrive a day earlier as they are later flights and organized programme starts at 1.45pm on the Friday or you can travel previous day and participate in the festivals busy Jewish lectures & musical concerts on offer see the Jewish heritage festival http://www.jewishfestival.pl/ for 22nd annual festival programme of events which are not usually confirmed till April but on checking last years you can get a feel as to what’s on offer. You can extend your stay with additional days – need to confirm for hotel bookings.



Friday 6th July 1.45pm - Walking tour of the Jewish quarter [4 hours] from the David Hotel – Visiting the Galicia museum, & 7 synagogues and cemetery. The tour incorporates the newly rebuilt Kupa, Remuh, Temple, High, Old, Popper, Isaac Synagouges and Galicia museum where a short coffee break before we aim for a quick stroll across Wisla river to the wartime ghetto for 4.30pm for the very moving annual musical ceremony in the Heroes of the Ghetto Square and visit to Chemist under Eagle  ghetto museum if it will still be open.
7.30pm Kabalas shabbos at the Ramuh synagogue followed by various Klezmer concerts see festival programme. Let me know if you require Kosher meals during shabbos as must be pre-booked alternatively there are vast choices of restaurants in the area.

Saturday 7th July  9.00 am Shabbos service at the Remuh Shule or Temple Synagogue and from Midday you will hear sound checks preparation within square for finale SHALOM Concert climax Starting at 6.00pm in pletzl Szeroka Square 7 hours of mainly Klezmer music a treat to behold ending at 1.00am in morning consisting of the worlds best KLEZMER bands and a mix of Jewish / Yiddish / Chazanuth & Israeli music often with a star attraction after Havdala on stage by the chief Rabbi of Poland approx 10pm when it gets dark.
2pm Suggested pm afternoon walk from outside Alef bar/restaurant in Szeroka square to Main Town centre square via Wawel Castle walk returning to Szeroka Square for 6pm with 15,000 people packing into the Jewish quarter so very difficult to move around all restaurants in area full and long queues for food and drink. A table will be booked at a restaurant pre-paid for and reserved at the back of the square during the entire 7 hour Jewish music extravaganza.

Alternatively SHINDLERS FACTORY should be visited near ghetto across river is now a fantastic new museum not to be missed, needs minimum of 2 hours and should be done on own [taxis there are only a few pounds each if shared].

Sunday 8th July 2012
, We will leave Hotel Astoria at 8.30 am to beat local traffic by Coach for Auschwitz-Birkenau which arrives approx 9.45 am and will spend approximately 5 hours there with guide. We will end tour at 2 pm with Mincha, and a Kinnah [religious service] for the victims of the shoah & a memorial prayer for the Martyrs concluded by shofar at the end of the railway track in Birkenau. Following Auschwitz-Birkenau we will visit museum and Holocaust Centre in the nearby town of Oswiecim [see their interesting website] with reconstructed Synagogue and in their conference room we will watch a shoah holocaust related film with pizzas and drinks provided. We will taken to direct to Krakow airport for our 21.55 flight home following which anyone staying on will be taken back to hotel.

Options available to anyone wanting extra days either side of 2 night week-end. Arriving earlier recommended for festival events on offer.
