Both 3 night and 4 day trips – Opening week-end Chazons concert – Closing week-end 7 hour outdoor Shalom concert mainly Klezmer and mixed world Jewish music – think a cross between Andree Rea in Maastricht and then between each week-end Limmud then you have the Krakow culture festival experience with nightly concert choices
‘I recommend everyone attends this wonderful musical treat that is the Shalom 7 hour Jewish musical extravaganza - it was the best night of my life’
It is Edinburgh Fringe atmosphere, with a totally Jewish programme, Limmud like, but concentrating on the world’s best Jewish Music with nightly concerts, then you will have next year’s 30th Jewish Culture festival commencing with a Cantorial week-end the Chazons themselves bring a brilliant Shabbes atmosphere at the Isaac shul, during davening, then a Maleva Malka concert after Havdalla. The opening week-end climaxes with a Gala Cantorial Concert at the stunning Temple Synagogue, the ruach oozes out of Kazimierz’s cobbled streets amongst the beautiful city of Krakow, once a third Jewish, currently rediscovering its Jewishness.
Extra nights should be considered staying on after initial week-end or arriving earlier for the climax week-end so you can revel as a Jew in Limud type atmosphere and programme of lectures films and nightly concerts choice and midnight jam sessions, if you still have the energy.
The Klezxmer bands jam every night at the Alchemia Cafe and from Monday they perform various concerts with a mix of Israeli and World bands a fusion of Jewish Music until the culmination of the 2nd Shabbat SHALOM in Szeroka Square concert on 4th July commencing at 18.00 and final ending 1am on Sunday morning. Approximate 8 of the best of world Jewish music comprising bands singers Yiddish with Havdallah performed on stage with the Chief Rabbi of Poland Michael Shudrich, Galicia and Krakow plus JCC Krakow.
Each Sunday we run trips to Auschwitz-Birkenau and the climax week-end we drop off afterwards at airport for late flights home on the 5th July.
This trip will be led by Marcel Manson 2nd generation survivor, his mother a survivor of Krakow’s Jewish Kazimierz district, ghetto, Plashov and Auschwitz – Birkenau and father hidden on a farm East of Krakow. The experience of paying tribute to the tragedy of a world that was and the joy of Jewish music and culture will stay with you forever and should not be missed…
